Oh my goodness! Have you seen the announcement that the tiki bar at Ku’Lani has been named Rita’s Bar? Some people know why, others don’t. Here’s how the bar got its name!
Have you ever met DJ Q2? He’s been around Ku’Lani for about 5 years. He’s of course a DJ here and he rocks the beach on Wednesday with awesome tunes ranging from all different genres of music at 12pm SLT. Also on Wednesday, DJ Q2 is live at Ku’Lani for the Wendy City Podcast at 4pm SLT. The podcast is all about Second Life and all the risqué things you can do here! You can catch up on the podcast here!
I know this seems off topic from the name of the bar, but I’m painting a story! DJ Q2 has had the same Wednesday host at Ku’Lani for the last two years, Rhae. We all remember Rhae for her glorious ass and how good she wiggles it here at Ku’Lani, but I did get the chance to ask her what she loves most about DJ Q2’s sets and her response was quick and simple, “he is an amazing guy, I love his energy, the music, he always brings his heart, makes people feel good. He genuinely cares and it shows.” I can honestly say, this seems to be the consensus on people’s feelings around DJ Q2. You don’t get 3 SL wives any other way; let's just be honest.
I was able to snag an interview with Lani, and when I asked Lani if she remembered how her and DJ Q2 met, her response was priceless, “I don't but I remember when I heard him DJ I was smitten! We later made a (joke) that he was my Baby Daddy and everyone thought we were together.” There you have it Ku’Lani… The tantalizing story of how DJ Q2 became Lani’s baby daddy! So, this should not be surprising when I asked Lani how the tiki bar got its name: “ Rita's is named after his mom who unfortunately passed. Q is such an important part of our community.”
Now things should make more sense as to why we had to talk about DJ Q2 first, to learn about Rita. I spoke with DJ Q2 and got to hear about his lovely mother. When I asked who Rita was, he had no problem telling me, “ Rita is my RL mom, now my angel above passed away in 2009.” Coming back to the question as to how the tiki bar became Rita’s Bar DJ Q2 shared the symbolism between the bar and his mother, “yes was telling Lani about my mom passing away and still having my IMVU account because I am a developer and still have products and earn credits, but also having a club named Rita's in IMVU when my mom passed Rita's was born and her picture is on the wall in the club, and she decided to honor my mom naming the Tiki bar Rita's which touched my heart brought me to tears, touched.”
Since we have such a beautifully named tiki bar at Ku’Lani now, I asked DJ Q2 if there was anything his mom passed on to him that he wanted to share with people. The response was epically authentic, “All that I am my mom passed on to me, the man I have become, being masculine, but having a sensitive side, my work ethic, my caring heart, her undying spirit and perseverance all come from her. So much that there is too much to even say. I love her and am who I am because of her raising my brother and I the way she did.” Unfortunately, Rita passed away in RL unexpectedly after recovering from pneumonia. The beautiful “coincidental” part of life whether it be fate, quantum entanglement, spirituality, or anything else is that one of DJ Q2’s wives has a RL birthday on 11/9- the same as Rita’s. Rita passed away just after she turned 61 on 12/9/09.
Please feel free to come on down to Ku’Lani and visit Rita’s Bar! We are so proud to honor such an amazing woman, especially one that brought us such an amazing man!
